Toronto Travel Guide
๐Getting to BMO Field
BMO Field is at Exhibition Place, on the Toronto waterfront west of downtown. From Pearson International Airport (YYZ), take the UP Express train to Union Station (25 minutes, $12), then the 509 Harbourfront streetcar or walk 25 minutes along the lakeshore. Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ) is even closer โ a 10-minute taxi ride. The 504 King streetcar and the Exhibition GO station also serve the area. Toronto's transit is solid for getting to this venue.
๐ Where to Stay
Downtown Toronto near the Entertainment District puts you close to the stadium and the nightlife on King Street West. The Distillery District is a charming pedestrian area with cobblestones, galleries, and restaurants. Kensington Market is bohemian and budget-friendly. Queen West is Toronto's arts strip. Yorkville is the upscale option near Bloor Street. For budget, stay near a subway station anywhere along Line 1 โ Bloor-Yonge or Dundas are well-connected.
๐ดFood & Drink
Toronto is one of the most diverse food cities in the world. Kensington Market has everything from Jamaican patties to Venezuelan arepas to vintage cheese shops. Chinatown (Spadina Ave) runs deep. St. Lawrence Market is a must for peameal bacon sandwiches โ the quintessential Toronto breakfast. Little Italy on College Street has patios and pasta. For poutine (fries, cheese curds, gravy), try Smoke's Poutinerie or any late-night spot. Dundas West has the trendiest restaurants.
โWeather
Toronto in June-July is warm and pleasant. Expect 23-28ยฐC (73-82ยฐF) with moderate humidity. Occasional thunderstorms but mostly sunny. BMO Field is open-air and right on the lake โ there can be a nice breeze. Pack sunscreen for day matches and a light jacket for evening games by the water.
